Automotive grade urea (AGU) is a white, solid, cylindrical pellet that is made by compressing pure urea crystals. It is an organic amide molecule that contains 46% nitrogen. Prilled urea is used in the production of diesel exhaust fluid for pollution abatement.

AGU is used to make the best quality diesel exhaust fluid. It is a chemical compound that converts automotive urea into ammonium, phosphorus, and hydrogen sulfide.

Urea is added to many diesel vehicles to convert dangerous nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen gas and water. If a vehicle runs out of urea, sensors limit horsepower and eventually stop the engine from starting.

When buying DEF grade urea, you can consider things like:

• Certifications: The DEF you buy should have certifications from the American Petroleum Institute (API), the German Institute of Standardization DIN70700, and the International Organization for Standardization ISO 22241-1.
