Automotive grade urea (AGU) is a white, solid, cylindrical pellet that is made by compressing pure urea crystals. It is an organic amide molecule that contains 46% nitrogen. Prilled urea is used in the production of diesel exhaust fluid for pollution abatement.

AGU is used to make the best quality diesel exhaust fluid. It is a chemical compound that converts automotive urea into ammonium, phosphorus, and hydrogen sulfide.

Urea is added to many diesel vehicles to convert dangerous nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen gas and water. If a vehicle runs out of urea, sensors limit horsepower and eventually stop the engine from starting.

Aqueous urea solution (AUS) is a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) that reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engine exhaust systems. AUS is a mixture of pure urea and pure water. It is injected into the exhaust system and reacts with nitrogen oxide gas emissions, converting them to water vapor and nitrogen. AUS is often used in high-combustion diesel engines, such as those used by water-based craft. It is also finding increasing use in many land- and locomotive-based applications.

AUS 40 is a type of DEF that is usually used for ships. It is also referred to as "Marine DEF". AUS 40 is a higher concentration of urea (40%) and water (60%). It is not hazardous.

AUS 32 is another type of aqueous urea solution. It is used to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from auto exhaust systems.
